Tell us a bit about who you are and what you do?
Symmetrie, is a bespoke Interior Design + Styling Studio based in Launceston, Tasmania led by Emma Heidke. With a focus on creating beautifully balanced spaces, our name reflects our approach to design, where every element is carefully considered, measured and made to flow harmoniously. From residential redesign concepts or new builds through to commercial, retail, and hospitality settings, Symmetrie provides personalised design services that refine our clients vision and embrace their individual style.

What did you renovate?
The projects featured are from two residential new builds. Both homes were designed for young families.

How would you describe your style?
My own personal style is constantly evolving. I draw inspiration from modern Australian architecture, furniture, artwork and textured materials which always provided a strong influence for my clients projects.

Does working with a client have its challenges?
We love working with our clients! Giving that our design approach is collaborative, we make sure to take the time to get to know them personally, so that we can create spaces that reflect exactly how they would like it to look, feel, and function. With this approach, along with our initial concept design stage, we find it easy to communicate our ideas to our clients.

Talk us through the process you take in the planning stages of a new project!
During the Initial Design Consultation that each project will always begin with, we ask to see what inspires the client. This doesn’t necessarily have to be pictures of interiors, we have developed a concept for a clients project previously based on her artwork collection! From here, we are able to create a concept and mood board to ensure that everyone has the same vision for the project.
