Just In Place - Real Life Reno

Courtney Cole -

Besties Galit and Leah who are the creative masterminds behind Just In Place got chatting to us about one of their recent projects. Their travel inspired client used our Palm Beach Encaustic look tiles to create a slice of Moroccan paradise in their Sydney home.

Tell us a bit about who you are and what you do?
We are best friends from Sydney’s north shore. We met at the school gates 15 years ago and now we can finish each another’s sentences. Between us, we’ve got six kids, four dogs, two husbands (bigger kids...) and we share a lifelong passion for all things interior design. We’ve also traveled off the beaten path – to Morocco, Nepal, Vietnam, Bhutan etc... Purely for design inspiration – and some yoga - of course! When the world will allow us to travel again we will be first on line.
'Just In Place' is our dream business and combines every element of our professional and personal experience and passions to help you create a beautiful home that gives you a buzz every time you walk through your front door.

What did your client renovate?
Our client came to us with an idea to redo the whole house. Although the structural members weren't moved, nor demolished, a lot of work still needed to be done. The house needed a fresh up to date look and feel. Perhaps a new coat of paint here and there, a new decor because, well...it was time.

What motivated your client to renovate?
Our client got the new government scheme of homeowners building grant (COVID assistance program) and was looking for a one-stop-place where everything from the initial design to the finished work can be done under one roof - Just In Place. And this is how our collaborative journey with the client started.

How would you describe your style?
Natural Organic style which brings the personality of each client into the space.

Talk us through the process you take in the planning stages of the renovation?
We specialise in bathrooms and kitchens. First stage would be to look at the floor plan and decide about the layout. With a bit of inspiration from our customer (starting with questionnaire) we will create a mood board and a vision of the space. We take our clients 'hand in hand' into the journey and assist with all decisions.
In our first meeting, our client had a clear vision of what she wanted to achieve. She painted a lovely image of muted light colour palette with green and blue tones and soft blurry lines. We knew exactly where this pattern is heading, we were imagining the streets of Marrakech in front of our eyes and we knew that this is the piece of inspiration that will work for our client. This is how the travels should inspire all of us, small or big, there is always something that we can take from the amazing travel experience.

What was the most challenging part of the renovation? Did anything go wrong?
Currently we're all going through challenging times, which we think the building industry has never experienced before. We assist our customers to achieve their goals with no disruptions as much as possible. The name of the game is to be patient and understanding.

Did you come into the TileCloud showroom to look around at tiles? Did you order samples?
We have been working with TileCloud since its opening and we specify your tiles into the projects and send our customer to your showroom for further selections.

Why did you choose TileCloud / What did you enjoy best about the TileCloud experience?
