How to achieve the perfect Hamptons style bathroom

Layla Sawyer -
The Hamptons style is luxurious yet homely – it’s light and airy with coastal charm. Known to reflect relaxation and tranquillity, making it a perfect choice for any bathroom. Here are some of our tips to achieve the perfect Hamptons style bathroom!

Check out our previous article on Creating a Hamptons Style Home as a refresher on the Hamptons style. The base colour palette of Hamptons is white, brown, light grey, soft blues and the occasional sage green. It’s best to use white or off-whites as your main colour if you want that bright and airy feel. Accessorise with pale blues and greys in smaller doses with your towels and styling pieces.

Tip: Avoid red, yellow, orange. No warm tones at all in Hamptons styling. Keep those colours cool at all times!

Hamptons-style homes have generous bathrooms built on the neutral colour palette of white and greys, sometimes with a mosaic or feature tiles around the shower and vanity.

For classic Hamptons, choose ornate tapware with a chrome or brushed nickel finish paired with a shaker style vanity to achieve that traditional look. A contemporary streamlined bath is a centrepiece of any bathroom or ensuite and is the perfect space to relax after a stressful day. For a classic look, choose a bath style with soft curves rather than harsh straight lines.

Generous sized windows and plenty of natural light are key features of Hamptons homes. This includes those private areas of a house also, like the bathroom! Windows in a Hamptons bathroom traditionally will have white shutters to control light and privacy. If you don’t have much natural light in the bathroom, make it brighter by adding a skylight!
